WaterSafety360:
The Innovative Approach to Assessing Water-Related Risks

Water safety plans, Directive (EU) 2020/2184), Legionellosis risk prevention: how difficult is it to navigate correctly through the various regulatory obligations and ensure 360° water safety?

Prevention is Better than Cure: Sanipur, a specialist in water sanitisation, understands the importance of assessing and correctly managing the risks associated with it. That’s why we developed WaterSafety360, a consulting service born from over a decade of experience, for the assessment and management of water-related risks in buildings and facilities.

WaterSafety360: Legionellosis Risk Assessment by Disinfection Specialists

WaterSafety360 was developed as a water safety management plan for the prevention of Legionellosis risk. It is based on a holistic and proactive approach that entails the identification of the most suitable preventive and corrective measures according to the specific risk level of the structure under evaluation.

Inspired by World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, the European Study Group for Legionella Infections (ESGLI), and national guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, WaterSafety360 involves the drafting and application of a tailor-made risk assessment document  for each site. This document serves as the starting point for proper Legionellosis risk management.

This approach is essential not only in site hosting vulnerable and at-risk individuals (such as hospitals and other socio-healthcare facilities) but also in tourist accommodations and, more generally, whenever its presence can pose the collective health at risk.

Water Safety Plans: The Evolution of WaterSafety360

The Directive (EU) 2020/2184 marked a significant shift in defining the legal obligations to ensure the safety of drinking water along all the water chain. This approach, indeed,  not only reinforces the relevance of Legionellosis risk management but also further expands the same principles to other parameters: e : the risk assessment should now cover a complete repertoire of chemical and microbiological parameters required to define the water suitable for water consumption, even for premise plumbing.

Thus, WaterSafety360 evolves: by applying the provisions of international regulations, Sanipur has developed it into a comprehensive consulting tool for drafting and implementing water safety plans as enforced by the European Directive on drinking water. This applies to any type of structure, tailored to specific needs and regulatory requirements.

How does it work?

WaterSafety360 service consists of  three main stages, during which Sanipur constantly supports its customers to ensure a full control of water safety:

  • Risk Analysis and Assessment
Through a technical inspection and targeted interviews with the involved professionals, Sanipur experts analyse the characteristics of the structure and its water systems, identify critical points, and outline measures for proper risk management. A summary document is then drafted and periodically updated.
  • Risk Management
Once the risk level of the structure is identified, the most suitable measures for proper management are implemented, and a control plan is defined to verify their effectiveness.
  • Maintenance
With the intervention and support of Sanipur’s qualified technicians and professionals, the best practices formalised in the assessment document are converted into good practices. This includes the implementation of  maintenance logs and the scheduling of periodic inspections to verify and update, whenever needed, the risk assessment.
